Automotive Connectivity Engineer

Ruptela is looking for an RnD Automotive Connectivity Engineer to join our talented RnD Automotive Connectivity Team.

Our Automotive Connectivity Team has a challenging task – to enable our devices to gather information from different vehicles, trailers, and other means of transportation. As an Automotive Communication Engineer, you will be searching for data reading and control capabilities on the newest vehicle models, searching, and implementing new solutions, and also looking for bugs, getting your hands dirty with cars, or driving around the city to try out our solution.

Your key roles will be:

  • Perform analysis of vehicle communication protocols, data streams, sometimes perform vehicle CANBUS reverse engineering tasks
  • Support technical vehicle parameters updates to the database
  • Coordinate with development to facilitate the implementation of new/updated technical vehicle parameters database and resolve technical issues
  • Testing of hardware and firmware according to specification (including non-functional requirements)
  • Bug life cycle management – bug reporting, tracking, analysis, and verification
  • Executing and analyzing automation test results, executing regression testing
  • Work with the technical team to assist customers in solving vehicle interface or compatibility issues


  • Bachelor’s degree in telecommunications, automotive engineering, electronics, physics, or a related technical field
  • Experience and knowledge in the automotive field: automotive communication protocols and interfaces, architecture (LIN, CAN, CAN FD, FlexRay, Ethernet, K-Line, OBD)
  • Technical problem-solving and analytics skills, ability to provide technical support if needed
  • Time planning and prioritization skills and ability to react to quick-changing priorities
  • Self-motivated with a high level of accountability and willingness to learn new things
  • Availability to travel (up to 70% locally and up to 30% abroad)
  • English language knowledge
  • Driver’s License (B category)

What would be an advantage?

  • Technical role in the automotive industry or working with vehicle connectivity interfaces
  • Deep understanding of CAN protocols, data packet structure, vehicle manufacturer specifics of OBD diagnostics
  • Basic knowledge about C#, C++, Python, PHP, or other programming languages
  • Experience in vehicle reverse engineering, communication data loggers, and data analysis tools (Wireshark, Peak, Vector, or similar products)
  • Knowledge or experience in heavy commercial vehicle solutions (e.g., tachographs, data transfer – FMS, J1939, J1708)
  • Basic knowledge about TCP, UDP, RS232, RS485, 1-wire network communication protocols
  • Driver’s License (C, CE category)

The salary range for this position is 1650 – 2150 EUR (gross) per month. As Ruptela is an equal opportunity workplace, the precise salary offered to the right candidate will be based on one’s qualifications, competencies, and professional experience.
