Tell us more about yourself and what led you to your current position.

In 2009, during my final years of studying, I co-founded a vehicle tracking service provider company with a friend. Starting in my garage, we quickly grew to employ 10 people within two years. After five years, we expanded with branches in Yucatan, Puebla, and Querétaro. Initially, I managed the operational side, adapting the software to meet client needs. We served clients in the private sector and secured government tenders, distributing devices with technical support. Eventually, I transitioned to the commercial role, overseeing sales and partnerships.

When and why did you join Ruptela’s team?

In 2019, while running our service provider business with my partner, I faced the challenge of balancing work and family life. The distance between my office and home, which took about 1 1/2 hours to commute, made it difficult to be present for both. Additionally, managing a team of 12 people posed its own set of challenges. Regrettably, there were times when I couldn’t spend as much time with my newborn daughter as I would have liked.
However, amidst this struggle, a ray of hope emerged when I came across an enticing opportunity from Ruptela. They were planning to establish a new office in Mexico, and I learned about it through Jose Luis Molinuevo and Katazina Sitnikova. Given my prior success in securing significant projects as a service provider using Ruptela’s premium solutions, I recognized that this was a remarkable chance for personal growth and professional advancement. With that in mind, I promptly reached out to them to express my interest and apply for the position.

How does your journey at Ruptela looks like?

I was amazed by Ruptela’s commitment to its employees right from the start. Andrius Rupšys, the company’s CEO, personally visited our office and dedicated several days to sharing his insights, market trends, and his vision for the growth of Ruptela’s new office in Mexico.
Also, I had the incredible opportunity to spend an entire month in Lithuania. During my time there, I engaged in meaningful conversations with esteemed Ruptela clients, participated in enlightening workshops, and even visited their factory to gain insights into the entire production process.
Back in Mexico, I can confidently attest that Ruptela’s reputation for delivering high-quality solutions is well-known and accepted. Most of our clients know Ruptela’s outstanding track record and are enthusiastic about engaging in business with us.

How do you start your day? Please share any rituals or tips&tricks that help you stay productive all-day.

My day starts at 6:10 AM when I take our dog Chase for a walk – he is our alarm clock every morning. I have a 4-year-old daughter, and I enjoy our morning routine together – having breakfast, discussing our plans for the day, and struggling a little bit to get her ready for school before 7:45.
I return home and start my working day around 8:00 AM with a cup of coffee. First, I check my email to see if something is critically important – that is the first thing I take care of. I check the leads and follow up on clients’ requests to understand if they need devices, support, onboarding, etc. Most of my days include meetings with potential customers, either live or online, and trying to catch up on big opportunities. I stop around 2:30 PM to take my girl from school and have lunch together, and come back to job tasks.

What motivates you to go to work every day?

First of all, my source of motivation is my family, plus I really like my job. I love visiting clients and showing them all the opportunities they miss just because they have had a bad experience before. Once the problem is solved, they fall in love with Ruptela.

What are your job’s most challenging and most cheering elements?

The most prominent challenge is reconquering the clients and, of course, chasing the decision-makers of big telematics companies. On a positive note, over the past three years, I successfully pursued clients such as Europcar, who have now become regular clients. LUMO is another noteworthy client that has been with us from the beginning, and I am proud to say that my presentation to the decision-makers convinced them to start working together. Also, Telcel (the biggest telco in México) homologation, improving the relation whit Syscom, doing business in Spain with México partners are among the other notable moments in my role.

Tell us more about your hobbies

I have a deep passion for attending music festivals and concerts with my friends, as well as playing the guitar and collecting music on vinyl. On one Friday every month, we gather to watch thought-provoking films by directors like Lars von Trier, Rob Zombie, and Stanley Kubrick, providing a refreshing break from the influx of superhero movies. Additionally, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, whether exploring the city on weekends or going into nature at least twice a month

Interesting facts about you.

My journey into the world of work began at the young age of 13 when my father introduced me to the family catering services business. Starting as a dishwasher, I gradually worked my way up, taking on roles such as kitchen assistant, waiter, and eventually bartender. Also, I worked as a locksmith during high school and the first years of university. At first, I took art as my career and spent two years studying at the National School of Plastic Arts at UNAM. However, in the end, I made the decision to shift my focus towards Applied Mathematics and Computing, recognizing the exciting possibilities that lay within this field.

What is your favorite place in the world? Why?

Exploring new destinations has always been a source of joy for me, and it’s difficult to pinpoint a single favorite place. I am a simple man who enjoys camping and having a bonfire by the lake in nature when no one is around, listening to the sounds of burning firewood. I cherish those moments with my friends when my favorite band performs my beloved song. Or just grabbing my headphones and listening to music from my turntable.

And the last one – could you share any advice for those who want to start their career in the telematics industry?

This business has applications in the majority of areas, thus don’t be afraid and try to make a better world with new technologies.
